2Ti 3:13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

Pr 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

People do not stay the same. Either death is working in them, or life. If they do not believe in Christ, then death works in them. They do not stay the same. As the years roll on, men become more like the gods they trust. There is less restrain on evil lusts and desires; the tongue is loosed to more and more blasphemy; the heart burns with anger and hatred, and they finally fall into hell, weeping and gnashing their teeth in anger and hatred. There is no repentance in hell; it is a bottomless pit of uncontrolled hatred, wrath, bitterness, and unconcealed fury against God and all He made, where the worm does not die nor is the fire quenched. The ungodly are like the chaff which the wind blows away; fit only to be burned, and that forever.

By being born again, the godly have the principle of life within them, so that they will never perish. Because it is Christ who works in them and guarantees their salvation, He will continue His work unto the day of judgment. Phil. 2:3 and Phil. 1:6. The godly will see the end of their faith: the salvation of their souls and conformity to the image of Jesus Christ. 1John 3:1-3; John 10:27; Rom. 8:29

This power that works in the godly is the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:14-15. He does not perfect them at once for part of their pilgrimage is to fight sin and the devil and thereby show that the One who works in them is greater than He that is in the world. 1John 4:4. The victory that overcomes the world is their faith, the work of the Holy Spirit: 1Jo 5:4 "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."
