"I have sinned against heaven and earth and am no longer worthy to be called thy son. Make me as one of the hired servants." The modern would add, "I have rights, you know. Who are you to condemn me? Here am back home and I already feel the oppression of this place. Besides, Dad thinks he knows everything. I won't be around here long. I am going to find a kindler, gentler Jesus that makes me feel good and can empathize with those who are in hog pens for no fault of their own."

"Agaiinst thee and thee only have I sinned done this evil in thy sight.' Ps. 51. The modern would add, "But damn Bathsheba, she shouldn't take a bath in public."

"Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts and let him turn unto the Lord, for He will have mercy and abundantly pardon" Is. 55. The modern would add, "But I don't want to think what the Bible says; it make me feel bad."

There is no "orthodox" repentance. Just real repentance that includes both stupid wicked thoughts and disobedience in thought and word and deed.
