Casting my mind back over the years of my life,
I tried the other day to remember hymns that we sang in church that have
especially ministered to me in times of trial. Specifically in
church. Five came to my remembrance, not in any special order, but
brought to my soul a great sense of peace and trust and hope in our Lord Jesus
and the New Testament in His blood. They are listed below, with pages
from the old Trinity Hymnal. I list five of them, in no special order of
significance.
Psalm
30. Page 526
My Hope Is Built on
Nothing Less, than Jesus' Blood and Righteousness. Page 582
Jesus, What a Friend
for Sinners. Page 432
Man of Sorrows! What
a Name! For the Son of God Who Came. Page 175
A Wonderful Savior
is Jesus My Lord. Page 675
These are not even my favorite hymns
necessarily, nor are they chosen often by me for worship, but I remember
special times and conditions where the Holy Spirit used them to bring great
peace and hope to my heart.
