There is nothing new under the sun.
In Romans 2:17, Paul speaks of those who "made their boast of God"
but by the way they lived they dishonored God.
They boasted that they knew the law and were capable of instructing the
ignorant and the blind and children. But it was all vain because they did not
do the things they approved. They lied and slandered and resisted the truth. It
was all hollow and empty because knowledge and the approval of goodness is useless if we do not DO the good.
Paul asked a penetrating question, "Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou
not thyself? thou that preachest
a man should not steal, dost thou steal? Thou that sayest a man should not
commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?” (Ro
2:21-22) Wow!
